Europe Youth Loutraki: The pairs of the finals in doubles

The 3rd and penultimate day of the Europe Youth tournament of Loutraki also had exciting games in store for table tennis fans. She was first in the individual events, but also reached the medal events, creating lively interest.

In the Sport Camp gym yesterday 27/10 the pairs of the finals in the doubles of all categories, as well as the athletes of the category up to 13 years old, who cover the medal positions, were highlighted. Host Greece has its own athletes everywhere. In the Under 13 boys’ doubles final, Konstantinos Isaakidis/Konstantinos Alexoudis face off against the Danes Emil Hasselbalk/Malik Severinsen. In the Under 15 boys’ doubles, two Greek twins are competing for the gold medal. Giannis Koutras/Yannis Kioseloglou on one side and Theofanis-Giorgos Mitkas/Kostas Fakaros on the other. In the Under 13 girls’ doubles final, Anna Fanuria Mitka and Elpida Tasiou will meet Andrea Gregersen/Celinda Vung from Denmark. In the Under 15 girls’ doubles final, Anastasia Tskartishvili/Tekla Liparteliani from Georgia will compete with Vasiliki Boula/Stella Mavromataki from Greece. In the singles, the women’s category already advanced to the 4th place, due to the small participation, and it is characteristic that four Greek women entered the medal positions. The Under 13 doubles finals are held concurrently at 18:45. Boys in “TV” table 1 and girls in table 2. The Under 15 doubles finals take place at 19:15. The girls at the “television” table 1 and the boys at table 2.

In singles, the group stage took place yesterday, from which the qualifiers for the main draw (level A) came out. On Saturday the knockouts are held from the round of 16 or the round of 8. For the sportsmen and women, who were eliminated in the groups, “consolation” matches are held today with the so-called B Finals boards. It should also be noted that girls and boys also took part in the above category, while several children had not taken part in the team and were immediately tested in the singles.

In tomorrow’s final, the program opens at 09:00 with knockout B finals and includes a morning and afternoon session. At 13:30 the singles main draw (i.e. the A Finals) begins and the finals are scheduled for:

In the category of boys Under 13 (4 groups):

Konstantinos Alexoudis emerged as the winner in the 1st group, where only Greeks participated. He had 2 wins in as many matches. Nikos Angelidis took the 2nd privileged position in the same group with 1 win and 1 loss. Michalis Bithavas came 3rd with 2 losses.

Three Greeks were also in the 2nd group. Anastasios Fousekis had 2 wins and 1 loss and qualified behind the leading Dane Malik Severinsen. Giorgos Sassanis ranked 3rd with 1 win and 2 losses and Dimitris-Marios Alexandridis 4th without a win.

Yannis Kioseloglou competed as the leader in the 3rd group and took the lead with 3 wins. Spyros Fousekis advanced with the 2nd place. He had 2 wins and the decisive one against the Georgian Mate Gabarashvili with 3-2 sets. Giannis Sarigiannis followed with 3 losses.

Three Greeks also in the 4th group with Dimitris Georgallidis getting the qualification. He recorded 2 wins and 1 loss and finished behind Danish leader Emil Hasselbalk. Konstantinos Isaakidis came 3rd with 1 win and 2 losses, while Stefanos Mavromatakis was in 4th place without a positive result.

In the category of girls Under 13 (2 groups):

Anna-Fanuria Mitka dominated the 1st group. She achieved 3 wins, the last against Celinda Vung from Denmark by 3-1 sets. The victory of Athanasia Goga against the athlete of Chinese origin was also noteworthy (3-2 sets and 13-11 in the 5th), in fact, it was decisive for the qualification. Goga ranked 2nd with 2 wins and 1 loss. Sofia Fili remained in 4th place without a victory.

In the 2nd group, our other 2 athletes, Aphrodite-Ioanna Sariskakis and Despina Dimitriou, secured qualification from the first competition. They each had 2 wins at that time and in the match between them for the 3rd game, Sarikaki narrowly prevailed with 3-2 and 11-9 in the 5th set and won the first place. Both of them earlier defeated the 1st favorite of the group, the Danish Andrea Gregersen with 3-1 sets. Elpida Tassiou was limited to 4th place with defeats.

In the category of boys Under 15 (7 groups):

Giannis Koutras prevailed without pressure in the 1st group, where only Greeks competed. Scored 2 wins. Dimitris Georgallidis and Spyros Fousekis claimed the qualification in the 3rd round through the 2nd place. Georgallidis emerged as the winner with a 3-0 set.

Something similar happened in the 2nd group where there were 2 Greeks together with the Dane Emil Hasselbalk. Archangelos Gionis and Konstantinos Isaakidis played in the afternoon for the 2nd place and the first qualified with a 3-0 set.

Similar scene in the 3rd group. Stefanos Mavromatakis and Michalis Bithavas competed for who will pass behind the Dane Malik Severinsen. Mavromatakis prevailed with a 3-0 set and continues at level A.

Konstantinos Alexoudis justified his role as the 1st favorite in the 4th group by scoring 3 victories. Anastasios Fousekis followed him after a great 3-1 set win in the decisive afternoon match against Denmark’s Vilacs Bergholt. Earlier he had 1 win-1 loss. Christos Tsiotos was in 4th place without a win.

Yiannis Kioseloglou took the lead, also with the ultimate in success, in the 5th group. The 2nd place was taken by Mark-Lucas Stafford, who in the crucial 2nd round defeated the Dane Gustav Hoislet with 3-1 sets. Nikos Angelidis suffered 3 defeats and was unable to do anything substantial.

Theofanis-Giorgos Mitkas took the 2nd privileged position in the 6th group, behind Nikolos Tskartishvili. It showed 2 wins and 1 loss. Giorgos Sassanis was ranked 3rd with 1 win and 2 losses, he stood exceptionally well against his older Georgian athlete and lost 3-2 in the final. Dimitris Alexandridis, born in 2012, had 3 defeats.

Kostas Fakaros reached the top of the 7th group, where he was 1st favorite. He achieved 3 wins. Chrysovalantis Sambalis followed him on the main board with 2 wins and 1 loss. Giannis Sarigiannis was fourth without a win.

In the category of girls Under 15 (4 groups):

Alexandra Bithava made it to the final 8 as 2nd from the 1st group. She had 2 wins-1 loss and in the decisive match against Asian origin Celinda Vung from Denmark she prevailed with 3-2 sets (11-9 in the last). Despina Dimitriou was 4th in the same group without a win (she lost 3-2 sets and 11-9 in the final to Vung), while the 1st place was taken by the undefeated Anastasia Tskartishvili from Georgia.

The leader in the 2nd group was Stella Mavromataki and prevailed with the absolute number of victories in 3 matches. Elpida Tasiou took 3rd place with 1 win and 2 losses (she beat Daneza Gregersen). She fought in the final to qualify against Tekla Liparteliani from Georgia until she was beaten 3-0 in sets.

Vasiliki Boula topped the 3rd group with 3 wins in the same number of matches. Aphrodite-Ioanna Sarikaki was ranked 3rd with 1 win-2 losses and Sofia Fili 4th with 3 losses. Filippa Milkeborg from Denmark also qualified for the main draw as 2nd.

Angela Nure was very efficient in the 4th group, she only had wins, beating the 1st favorite, Sally Lu of Chinese origin from Denmark (3-1 set). In 3rd place was Anna-Fanouria Mitka with 1 win and 2 losses (difficult 1-3 sets from Lou in the decisive final) and in 4th place with 3 losses was Athanasia Goga (beat 3-2 by Nure).

SHOCKS ON THE NEXT SIDE

The final section on Friday featured the doubles matches, which offered some great moments. In the women’s semifinals, Anna Fanouria Mitka and Elpida Tasiou eliminated Sofia Fili/Athanasia Goga with 3-1 sets. Despina Dimitriou/Aphrodite-Ioanna Sarikakis took the 1st set against Andrea Gregersen/Celinda Vung from Denmark, but lost the next set for the final 3-1.

In the girls’ 4, Vasiliki Boula/Stella Mavromataki won 3-0 sets against Sally Lou/Philippa Mickelborg from Denmark. Georgia’s Anastasia Tskartishvili/Tekla Liparteliani beat Alexandra Bithava/Angela Noure 3-1 in sets.

In the women’s doubles, Konstantinos Isaakidis/Konstantinos Alexoudis advanced to the final by defeating Dimitris Alexandridis/Giorgos Sassanis with 3-0 sets. In the final they meet the Danes Emil Hasselbalk/Malik Severinsen, who in an exciting match, which excited the spectators, beat Dimitris Georgallidis/Nikos Angelidis with 3-2 sets (11-8 in the 5th set).

In the children’s doubles final, two Greek couples will play for the first place. The 1st favorite, Yiannis Koutras/Yiannis Kioseloglou, who were directly in the semi-finals, defeated the Danes Vilaj Bergholt/Gustav Hoislet with 3-0 sets. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, Mark Stafford/Christos Tsiotos narrowly beat the Scandinavian pair 3-2 sets.

Kostas Fakaros/Theofanis-Giorgos Mitkas have advanced with 2 wins and in the 4th they beat the 2nd favorite, the Georgians Nikolo Tskirtishvili/Mate Gabarashvili, with 3-1 sets. The losers of all semi-finals get the bronze medal, since there are no matches for places 3-4.
