The “green light” to reopen some of its facilities confirmed it OAKA.
With announcement of, informs about the places that will be again available with special security conditions.
It refers to her specifically:
“The management of the Athens Olympic Sports Center announces that following an Expert Report of the Technical Chamber of Greece and the relevant Decision of the Ministry of Sports, they are officially reopening from tomorrow, Friday, November 3, with special conditions for safe passage for entry, stay and exit, the following areas of OAKA:
A. The “Giorgos Kasimatis” hall in the main Stadium
B. The management and service offices in the main Stadium
C. The underground multi-purpose hall at the Cycle Track.
In the Report it is stated that “the access and operation of these spaces is considered safe”, with the necessary limitations on the capacity of the Kasimati hall – due to its special entry/exit points – during trainings, matches and events by its users.
According to the TEE Report, the three above areas do not correlate in terms of their static adequacy with the two Calatrava Shelters in the Central Stadium and the Cycle Track.
It is recalled that at the end of September, as part of the contract between the Ministry of Sports, OAKA and TAIPED for the project “Renovation of the Olympic Sports Center of Athens”, a study was received which concluded that out of all the Calatrava Constructions, only the two Shelters – of the Central Stadium and of the Cycle Track – did not meet the legally permitted levels of static adequacy.
In the next period of time, a newer Expertise Report is expected from the TEE, regarding the condition of the other areas that were included in the TAIPED Study, as well as all the interventions that will need to be done in order to make the overall use of the Center completely safe again Stadium and the Cycle Track.
The Athens Olympic Sports Center has been at the service of Greek sports since the first moment of its operation.
The safety of athletes, athletes and workers was and is the highest priority for the administration of the historic sports complex, for the competent Deputy Minister, Yannis Vroutsis and the Government as a whole”.
