by

Brazilian clubs received an offer $ 800 million (almost 700 million Euros) from an unnamed investor, to form one “Detached” championship which will not be managed by the National Football Association (CBF).

The Globo news agency reports that through intermediaries LiveMode and 1190, an investor presented a significant bid capital for a new league, which was first introduced by clubs last year.

The investor will contribute $ 800 million in exchange for 20% of the league for a period 50 years old (2025-2074). The clubs would receive the money in three annual installments in 2022, 2023 and 2024, in an agreement that reflects some of the aspects of CVC’s investment in the Spanish La Liga.

The main commercial property of the league will be the broadcasting rights for Brasileirao (AD National) and Serie B (BD National), which until 2024 belong to the large radio and television organization Globo.

In 2021, all the top clubs in Brazil and Serie B came together to look at the way forward for professional club football in the country. KPMG, a team led by lawyer Flavio Zweiter, Ricardo Fort (former Coca Cola executive) and LiveMode, came up with ideas for a future league model in clubs.

The Zweiter group also includes outside consultants, such as Charlie Stilitano of Relevant Sports Group and Rick Paris, former of Liverpool. McKinsey Brasil also made a presentation, but does not intend to participate in the new league.

These various companies promised that in the new structure they will be utilized new revenue streams, allowing clubs to refinance their debts. The new league will bring together television rights for national and international exploitation, with the various teams forecasting revenue streams of 3 billion reais and cash from large investment and private funds.

Last June, the top clubs announced they wanted to set up a governing body to run the league. Brasileirao and gain more influence in the management of Brazilian football.

In a rare moment of unity, 19 of the 20 clubs of the National Team handed over a document to the Federation (CBF), stating their intention to create a league structure as early as 2022. Brazil is the only country in the world Top-10 where the federation continues to control the operation of the professional football club at home.
