Pavlopoulou: “Let the people support us in Chalkida”

by

The Women’s National Team fought against Italy, but did not manage to get the result they wanted in their first match for the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers. Everyone’s attention now turns to Sunday’s match against the Czech Republic at the indoor “T.Kambouris” in Chalkida with Penelope Pavlopoulou to not hide that she would like a full stadium and the fans to rhythmically shout “Hellas Hellas”.

We are waiting for people to come to the stadium and support us. Chalkida is a wonderful venue, we have experienced it in the past as well with the fans standing by our side and being our sixth player. We are expecting something similar this time as well, which will help us a lot. We can’t wait to hear the crowd rhythmically chanting “Hellas Hellas”“, the international playmaker emphasizes with anticipation.

Going back in time, Penelope Pavlopoulou refers to the match against Italy and what did not work properly: “We faced misfortune from the start of the match with Chineke’s injury, we also had the absence of Fasoula and our team was trying to adapt to the new situation. What we keep despite the defeat is that we played as a team, pulled together and tried throughout the match to do our best. Of course we had some parts in the game where we didn’t go well. We missed a lot of rebounds, we didn’t have that good pace offensively, but the important thing is that we battled it out and responded at times when the game seemed to be slipping away».

As of today, everyone’s thoughts are on Sunday’s match with the Czech Republic. “We are looking at the next match against the Czech Republic, which will also be in our country, in a welcoming venue such as Chalkida. The Czech Republic is a different team, they play at a high speed and we are determined to give it our all. We want an informal revenge for our defeat in the EuroBasket in the knockout match that deprived us of entry into the eight of the competition. We remember that we lost and we want something more“, noted the Panathinaikos guard.
