An interview with the BBC was given by Manolis Siopis. The Greek midfielder spoke about his transfer to cardiff, his coach, Errol Bulut, who believed him, but also for the various in English football in relation to Greek and Turkish football.
“Erol Bulut gave me the opportunity to join the team. If it wasn’t for Errol I might not be here now. Errol is a winner. Whatever team he goes to, he makes something. For example when we worked together at Alanyaspor, the club had the best season in its history.
We reached the Cup final, qualified for Europe by finishing in the top five and the following season he went to Fenerbahce.” were originally the words and he went on to say:
“I was watching Premier League and Championship matches and now I’m here. Before I came I spoke to Errol and told him that my aim is not to have a good season and stay in the same place. My goal is always to win, but also to reach the playoffs.
You have to have a goal to achieve, that’s my style. He said to me: “Do you think I’m here just to have a good season?”
We have set this goal and we are doing well. The most important thing is to continue game by game to succeed.”
Then he pointed out that it was his dream to compete in England: “It was my dream to come here. If I’m not motivated to play on a team, I’m done and I can’t compete. I had the opportunity to come here with Errol and I took it.”
As for the football style in England, he said: “The style of football is similar, but here there is more physical contact. The rate is higher compared to Turkey. But the style of play suits me and I enjoy it.
I can’t explain the atmosphere here. People watch football in a different way. It’s not the same in Greece or Turkey.”
