The United States wants to avoid armed conflicts inside hospitals in the Gaza Strip, endangering civilian lives, and conveyed their view to Israeli forces, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told CBS News today.

“The United States does not want to see an exchange of fire in hospitals where innocent people, patients receiving medical care, are in the crossfire, and we are in active consultation with the Israel Defense Forces about that,” Sullivan said on the CBS News show, ” Face the Nation”.

Sullivan said intelligence reported that “Hamas uses hospitals as it does many other civilian facilities, for command and control, for weapons storage, to house its fighters. And this is a violation of the laws of war.”

He also said that the United States continues to remove US citizens from Gaza.

“The gate was open and closed. The lists included Americans on some days and not on other days. But the important thing is, today the gate is open. We’re taking American citizens and their family members out,” he said.
