Panathinaikos remained unscathed and at the top of the standings. His team Ivan Jovanovichhad to miss many opportunities in Kaisariani against Kifissia and “heart attack” in 35′ with her big missed opportunity stopped by Lodingin, but his “golden” goal Daniel Mancini in 58′ she broke the “Gordian bond” and redeemed the “clover” in her last match 11th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League.
An important victory for the “greens” who were kept at +4 from their pursuers, they broke the headquarters of Kifissia and calmly go to the break, in view of the difficult continuation. Disallowed his goal Aitor in the 13′ which came from a beautiful ball by Perez to Mancini with the Argentine being a “hair” ahead, as it was proven through VAR.
From a forced change for each team with Schneiderlan to feel discomfort and to be replaced in the 13′ by Bothia and Jedvai to concede in the 64′ his own place to Zeke.
In the minds of the coaches:
With the 4-2-3-1 lined up Kifissia o Yannis Anastasiou. Anagnostopoulos in goal, with Masoura, Parras, Vafea and Landr in defense. Sneijderlan and Ipalibo moved in the axis as defensive midfielders with Pritsa in a free role while Gobelic and Anderegen flanked Tetei in attack.
The established 4-3-3 by Ivan Jovanovich for Panathinaikos. Lodingin sat down under the rafters. In the back four from right to left, Kotsiras, Schenkefeld, Jedvaj and Mladenovic. Ruben Perez is on the axis, with Cerin and Djuricic in a free role. Mancini on the right, Aitor on the left and Sporar at the top of the attack.
The match
With Panathinaikos pressing and winning two corners in the first five minutes and not taking advantage of them, the match began at “Mihalis Kritikopoulos”. Ivan Jovanovic’s team had possession and moved the ball around in their attempt to break down Kifissia’s well organized defence.
In the 13th minute, the “greens” arrived with claims in the frames of Anagnostopoulos, with Ruben Perez making the ball at the back of the defense where Mancini made the parallel turn to Aitor with the Spaniard sending the ball into the net and Zambala disallows the goal, since at the beginning of the phase Mancini was exposed, in a highly marginal phase that was checked with the lines via VAR.
Ivan Jovanovic’s team did not slow down and with 21 minutes to go they missed another good chance. Mladenovic, in one of the few times he managed to get past Masoura, turned to Cerin, the Slovenian shot with Anagnostopoulos reacting to a corner.
The visitors continued to press and after pressing with Aitor in the 25th minute they missed a great opportunity in the 30th minute. The Spanish protagonist again turned parallel with power in the heart of the area towards Sporar, who did not have time to push it into the net and fouled Anagnostopoulos.
The Kifissia team took steps on the pitch over time and in the 35th minute missed the biggest moment of the first half. Tetei made the advance from the right, turned the ball to Pritsa, who shot from the height of the penalty area and Lodingin stopped him with a great intervention, while in the development of the phase, the incoming Masouras sent the ball to the outside of the post.
Panathinaikos woke up from this moment of Kifissia and in 38′ Mancini came in from the right, turned to where Botia kicked before Sporar became dangerous. The last good moment of the match had a “green” color again. Kotsiras teamed up from the right with Mancini, crossed into the semi-circle of the area, where Tserin shot powerfully into the corner with Anagnostopoulos making an impressive save, keeping it 0-0 which was the score of the first half.
The two coaches did not make any changes at the start of the second half and Panathinaikos continued with the same pattern, holding the ball. In 52′ Aitor won the foul from Botia who received the yellow card for hard marking. Cherin took over the execution but sent it over the bar.
The “clover” pressed and in the 58th minute it was vindicated. Djuricic made a cross that was countered, Anderegen was unable to clear and the Argentinian shot it onto the post and then into the net of Anagnostopoulos for 0-1!
Seconds later Ivan Jovanovic’s side registered another final with Djuricic receiving the ball and after covering a few yards he shot weakly with Anagnostopoulos making an easy block.
The minutes went by with the two coaches shuffling the “deck” in order to refresh their teams. In the 75th minute, the “clover” recorded another final. From the corner executed from the left, the defense of Kifissia kicked, Bernard lowered the ball, laid it to Senkefeld, who sent it out with a shot from outside the area.
With the match on a razor’s edge and Panathinaikos maintaining control and the score at their own levels, mistakes increased to a great extent on both sides.
The hosts were unable to threaten, as a result of which Panathinaikos remained in front and looked for a second goal in order to “clean up” the match.
Initially in the 90’+2′ Palasios saw Anagnostopoulos stop his powerful diagonal shot and keep the score at 1-0, while seconds later, Bernard fed Ioannidis, who brilliantly went past Botia and shot with the goalkeeper Kifisias to fend off again and Panathinaikos to escape with an important “double” from Kaisariani.
MVP: Until 75′, the hero of Panathinaikos in Kaisariani was Yuri Lodingin. The experienced goalkeeper, was intact on many occasions having made imposing exits in the set-pieces and fending off the big moment in the 35th minute with Pritsa. However, the title of MVP could not be taken by anyone other than the “golden” scorer Daniel Mancini who unlocked the defense in the 58th minute and finally gave Ivan Jovanovic’s team a great victory.
The “whistle”: Spyros Zabalas did not have to make critical decisions many times. In the 13th minute, he acted correctly and by consulting Tzilos in the VAR, he canceled Aitor’s goal, while he also made a correct distribution on the cards.
