In Athens, Florina and Patras, the 3rd round of the A2 national table tennis championships was held today, 12/11, with the champions continuing their winning streak.
ASEA Kavala at the indoor gym of Florina and DAO Tavrou at the indoor gym of Panagia Alexiotissa achieved three positive results over the weekend in men’s A2 and share the top spot with 6 points.
At the Stadium of Peace and Friendship, AO Aris 2006 and OA Chanion took a similar step and have the lead, also with 6 points. For the Crete team, the 3rd victory came over… a thousand waves, as in the derby against Ethnikos Alexandroupolis they found themselves losing 2-0 and 3-2. Results of matches and individual meetings have been posted on website.
In Patras, DAOT beat Athina Maggoufanas harder than the 4-0 final shows. The local Ifitos had a second consecutive match, which went to seven matches and this time, against Elefsina, they won. In Florina, Kavala also confirmed with HAN Thessaloniki that it had the upper hand and led by the Czech Michal Obeslo, a European-class athlete, with a score of 4-1, it made three of its victories. Finikas Agia Sophia Piraeus completed an excellent first two days, as today Sunday they beat the hosts Sarises 4-2 and are in 3rd place together with Ifitos.
In the women’s SEF and A2, the most interesting and the longest was the match between Chania and Ethnikos. The team from Alexandroupoli created the conditions to “break” the short streak of the OACH, as it took the lead twice with the young Eleni Zisouli scoring two great victories against the international girls Vasiliki Boulas and Stella Mavromatakis. Finally, the Cretan team tied 3-3 with Angela Noure and prevailed in the decisive doubles (with Mavromatakis/Boulas).
Aris 2006 may have the longest average age, but it is still highly efficient. Today they defeated the young team of PKD Tavros with 4-1 with the more experienced Maria Kalogianni and Angelina Papadakis bringing new victories. On an individual level, the return to the Greek championships of former international Daniela Grammatopoulou-Chrysopoulou after three years (she competes in Tataula) is noteworthy.
