Grigoris Polychronidis in the IPC athletes committee

by

Another distinction for the Paralympic gold medalist Grigoris Polychronides, this time outside the competition arena as he was appointed a member of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) athletes committee, representing the world botsia federation and of course the Greek Paralympic movement.

The worldwide recognition that Grigoris Polychronidis has and his many years of presence in the sport of boccia, led the world federation to single him out and appoint him as a representative to the athlete committee of the highest institution of the Paralympic movement.

Both the world bocce federation and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) are investing in the experience of Grigoris Polychronidis in order to continue the development of the Paralympic movement at all levels.

The leading Greek athlete who is also the president of the Hellenic Paralympics Association, already participated in the first meeting of the IPC athletes committee and others will follow in view of the 2024 Paralympic Games from which the recommendations for the IPC will also emerge.

It should be noted that prominent personalities of the global Paralympic movement participate in the IPC athletes’ committee and Grigoris Polychronidis is the first Greek athlete to be chosen to participate in the athletes’ body, something that has not happened for a representative of Greek sports even in the International Olympic Committee.

Definition of Polychronides in IPC

“It is a great honor but also a great responsibility for me personally as I am called to represent the sportsmen and women and to be their voice in the highest body of the Paralympic movement. I hope with the proposals that I will present, having a 20-year career as an athlete, that I can also contribute to the improvement of conditions for all my fellow athletes,” said the gold Paralympic medalist.
