Leclerc took the pole position in Las Vegas!

All in… red in Las Vegas! Ferrari had their due in the qualifying tests, with Charles Leclerc to take the pole position and become the third pilot in history to achieve such a feat! The Monegasque was an absolute dominator of the qualifying tests and with a time of 1:32:726 he will be the one to start from the first position in Grand Prix.

Carlos Sainz finished in second place, but due to the 10-place penalty he has from yesterday, he will start further back and thus in 2nd place and on the first row of the start will be Max Verstappen with Red Bull who finished 3rd.

In the Q1 despite the cautious start of the drivers, the rest was explosive as everyone tried to increase the times and with Leclerc staying in first place and Sargent making a surprise move into the top ten. The big surprise came from the McLaren side, as both their cars were disqualified, while Norris, Ocon, Tsunoda and Piastri continued in Q2.

Relatively the same development in Q2 with Hamilton and Verstappen making a quick pass from first place. But the Ferraris went to the pits and as a result the tire changes brought them back to 1-2. The development for some however was bad as Perez and Hamilton were left out which also happened to Hulkenberg, Stroll and Ricciardo.

The small rivalry between the two Ferraris and Verstappen added Alonso to the equation, who was half a second behind in the Q3.

Leclerc however came through…wind taking pole position with Sainz stopping just 44mm behind him Verstappen was 3rd and will be on the front row of the grid followed by Russell, Gasly, Albon, Sargent, Bottas, Magnussen and Alonso .

Sunday’s match will start at 8:00 am (Greece time).
