Possibly from 2024 we are heading for a different football as we know it until now. No it won’t… it is played with hands but it will have new modifications to its rules.
As MARCA analyzes in today’s publication, at the beginning of the new year, 2024, the next meeting of the IFAB is expected to take place, i.e., the special agency that decides on the approval and thus the implementation of new football regulations. At this meeting, the Spanish media estimate that all the modifications that have been leaked in the last period of time as thoughts of Arsene Wenger, we remind the FIFA responsible for the development of football, will be examined.
Wenger’s aim is to make football even more spectacular, more aggressive. So in this meeting the introduction of temporary suspensions will be discussed as well as the change of offside, in which the greater part of the attacker’s body will now be allowed to be ahead of the last defender as long as the last part of his body is he is in the same line, in “contact” with the defender.
As far as the temporary suspension is concerned, Wenger’s aim is to limit the players’ protests to the referee, while according to the first information the time of the player’s absence from the match could be 10% or 15% of the time of the race.
Both changes are believed by officials to be game-changing and will be approved at the IFAB conference and will come into effect from 2024.
