Grigonis: “I always try to be confident and help the team in whatever it needs”

by

For the upcoming (23/11, 21:15) match between Panathinaikos AKTOR and Valencia for the 10th matchday of the Euroleague, he spoke Marius Grigonis.

He initially emphasized that he expects an ugly game, while adding that he is trying to be confident in his game, doing whatever is necessary to help his team.

In detail what he said:

For the match against Valencia: “They are the best defensive team in the EuroLeague, but at the same time the worst in attack. So I expect an ugly game – for the eyes – with a lot of contact. We’ll see how things go, but overall I expect a tough fight.”.

On where Panathinaikos should focus: “What I saw is that Valencia don’t play up tempo, Chris Jones controls the tempo, as a team they play very aggressively in defense, they are tough players. We have to prepare for it mentally and, of course, competitively”.

On whether he himself feels that he is playing with more confidence: “I do not know. To be honest, I’m just doing my job. The coach makes me play and I try to help the team, whatever it needs. If it’s to play defense, or to score from the perimeter, or to penetrate and pass the ball. If that’s what the coach wants, I’ll try to do it. And if that helps the team win, then it’s all good. I try to always be confident in everything I do, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t”.

On the message he wants to send to the world of the team: “Come and enjoy the basketball spectacle. I hope you’ll have a good time and we’ll get the win”.
