Super League dedicates Matchday 12 to International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

THE Super League dedicates the 12th matchday to informing and raising the awareness of the sports fan public about the elimination of violence against women.

With a motto “You are not alone! Break the silence!” all groups send a positive message to society, a message of equality and to eliminate negative perceptions and stereotypes.

On the occasion of the international day (25/11) for elimination of violence against womenas well as the alarmingly increasing incidence of incidents domestic violence in Greek society, the Super League dedicates the 12th match day of the Stoiximan Super League Championship to information and awareness of the sports-loving public opinion, on this important issue.

THE Super League and all the teams that make up the top interclub football league, the most popular sport in our country, send a positive message to society, a message of equality and to eliminate negative perceptions and stereotypes:

The deputy president of the Super League Katia Koxenoglounoted, inter alia, the following:

“The Super League has always been a helper in every act of awareness and information, of all fans, regardless of collective preference and gender.

November 25th, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, is an important milestone, as not only have cases of violence against women increased dramatically in our country, but also because we all must finally understand that the criminal behavior against women should be condemned by all, without exception and without justification.

Taking advantage of the enormous potential of football, the Super League and all the teams, we stand against all forms of violence, sexual, physical, psychological, financial violence, but also stalking, human trafficking and rape”

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was established by the UN General Assembly. in December 1999 to highlight this major problem in its true dimensions.

The P.O.Y. set as femicide the intentional homicide of women, based on gender.

According to a survey by the Organization for Fundamental Rights of the EU, one in three women has suffered physical violence, sexual violenceor both forms of violence from the age of 15 onwards.

55% of women have faced one or more forms of sexual harassment, while 11% have experienced digital harassment.

Data for Greece:

-domestic affair- 68% of abused women are married.

– international case – 16% of the women who turn to the Counseling Centers are foreigners.

-non-class case – 70% of the victims have a secondary or higher education and more than 50% of the perpetrators have a secondary or higher education.
