“Boy” Volos in Heraklion, where… goals are still canceled!

The match that opened the curtain of the 12th round of the Stoiximan Super League, between OFI and Volos in Heraklion, ended without a winner, with the two teams drawing 1-1.

A game at least full, with two goals, five disallowed goals (one scored via VAR) and a red card.

A shame for the home team who remained for the fifth game in a row without a win, but they got 6 points (15 points) with a game to spare. A result that keeps the Voliotes down, but who – in his debut Angel Lopez on their bench (in his second term) – got a point by playing for over a half with one man less. In 13th place (7b.) the guests, who on Wednesday (29/11) play the postponed home match against Panserraikos.

OFI pressed, had many chances and leveled the match with his incredible shot Thorarirson in the 60′. However, he did not manage to achieve a complete reversal, since Meyado’s wonderful goal in the 89th minute did not count for Diko’s offside, in a difficult phase.

THE Valdas Dabrauskas lined up OFI with 5-3-2 and Bowman at home. The five in defense consisted, from right to left, of Marinakis, Karo, Pasalidis, Thorarirson and Abada, while the trio in midfield consisted of Meyado, Glazer and Gayegos. Mosquera and Diko are twins in the attack.

Good pace at the start of the match. Something that was helped by both OFI, who initially tried to threaten with static phases, and Volos, who pressed very high.

The first good moments came with Karo (15′) for OFI and Koba (5′), Kitso (18′) and Garcia (20′) for Volos.

To get to 23′ and the first disallowed goal for OFI, with Marinaki to send the ball into the net from close range, but to be exposed before taking the “rebound”.

The second disallowed goal for the Cretans was scored at 33′: Abada took the corner, found him at the second post Mosquera, with OFI’s midfielder sending the ball to the post. He took the “rebound” and broke next to Diko, who scored from close range. In the end, the goal did not count for interference VARbecause the lines “showed” that the fallen Pasalidis (between Abada and Mosquera) was exposed.

In the 40th minute, the moment arrived to cancel a goal for the guests: a deep pass towards the OFI area, Garcia’s first header for Deletic, he for Koba, with the latter downloading and marketing coolly. The flag was raised immediately, but incorrectly as it was immediately apparent in the first replay. With the error being corrected through VAR and the score to open (0-1) for Volos at 42′.

Eight minutes of delays due to the many holidays. In the first of these we also had a change in the numerical balance, with Garcia to receive the second yellow card (first in 19′) and to be sent off.

The Cretans immediately tried to exploit the player above. Especially at the start of the second half, they intensified their pressure even more. In fact, they had important opportunities with Mosquera (47′ and 52′) and Abada (50′).

For its part, Volos – as was logical due to the red color as well – attempted mainly on the counter. In fact, in the 55th minute, in such a case, Moraitis threatened, but he accepted the catalytic tackle of Pasalidis.

Ultimately, the pressure paid off for OFI in 60′by Thorarirson to nail the ball into the net with the unimaginable shot he caught outside the area.

Voliotes tried to respond in the 69th minute, they scored with Moraitis, but the goal was correctly canceled for offside.

After 1-1 the tempo had dropped. Perhaps OFI was stressed, as he still had a very good moment with Abada.
