His concern about the short participation time he has in AEK this season was expressed by Tom Van Weert in an interview he gave to the website, Tipsbladet. The Dutch striker says he is happy to be part of a club that is in the Championship but stresses that since he is not playing that much, then it makes sense to think about his future.
“Of course when you don’t play as much as I do now, he thinks a little bit about the future. Am I better off looking elsewhere for more playing time? Or can I accept not playing much, but being in a big title contending team? I always have these thoughts. Right now I’m trying to train as well as possible and be ready when the opportunity comes. If he doesn’t come, I can try to go somewhere else”reports the Dutch ace and added about the possibility of renewing his contract and whether he has discussed at all.
“No, not yet. The last time we spoke, the club was very happy and recognized that I was an important part of winning the league last season. That’s how I get the respect and good communication, but it’s also clear when you don’t play much, that you don’t think about the renewal, but about the playing time”he emphasized.
Finally, Van Weert was asked to answer a question about whether he thinks that in the summer he can continue his career in another team and possibly in Denmark.
“It is known that I have a Danish wife and that I spent three very good years in Aalborg, so Denmark is always an option. The Netherlands too. But we may continue to live abroad and find something like here, an adventure”concluded.
