by

The match

Colossos Rhodes started with Brajkovic, Poli, Billy, Jorgensen and Perantes, while Panathinaikos AKTOR started with Antetokounmpo, Mitoglou, Grigonis, Nan and Vildosa. From early on, the “greens” were in control, with Grigonis and Vildosa’s three-pointers opening the court and Mitoglou then throwing a “party” on the racket, for +12 (6-18), in the first five minutes and Brajkovic had the only points of Rodites. From that point on, the pace of the match… rocketed. And that’s because, the tall of the home team remained unsolved… a problem for the defense of the “clover” and with the help of Billis and Utomi, the difference fell to a single digit value (17-24), with the three-pointers of Vildosa and Koloverou forming 20 -27 of the first period.

The first three minutes of the second period had a bad pace, as the two teams made a contest of mistakes and thus the score remained at the same level (22-29). The image of the match did not change dramatically afterwards, with the “greens” finding scores mainly with shots from Lessor, the Rhodians being tragically off target and thus the difference escaping to +14 (22-36), at 17′. With a mini outburst, Kolossos temporarily made individual scores 6-2 (28-38), but three-pointers by Kalaitzakis and Vildosa sent the “clover” to the locker room with +16 (28-44).

Nan and Antetokounmpo sent Panathinaikos to +18 (30-48), at the beginning of the second half. Then, Kolossos responded and initially dropped the difference thanks to Koloveros (41-52), while with Brajkovic it was reduced to single digits (45-54), in the 26th minute. In the following minutes, Slukas and Balcerovski aggressively held the “cloverleaf”, with Utomi keeping the difference at the same levels (51-61), until the end of the third period.

With Utomi’s three-pointer, Kolossos got closer to -7 (54-61) at the beginning of the fourth quarter, with Panathinaikos AKTOR responding with a 7-0 run by Lessor and Slouka, for +14 (54-68), at 33 ‘. Then, Ataman’s players relaxed and with Brajkovic leading the way, the Rhodesians reduced the difference again to a single-digit difference (65-74), in the 36th minute. Vildosa and Mitoglou unstuck the guests, with Billis taking it personally and reducing the score to -7 (71-78), 1:18 before the end. Nan’s three-pointer sent the difference back to +10 (71-81), with Billis and Kolovero making it 76-81 with 14 minutes to go. Before the rebound, Grigonis made the offensive foul, with Perantes making the final 78-81.
