AEK-Gornik Zabrze: First “final” of the Greek champions for the qualification!

by

The first of two steps required (on her part) for her qualification to the “16”. EHF European League the AEK handball team will try to do on Tuesday afternoon (28/11, 19:45).

“Union” welcomes the club’s basketball department, the Olympic Hall of Ano Liosi, the Gornik Zabrze as part of his 5th season 2nd group.

The Greek champions, two “turns” before the final of the group, are in 3rd place (the first two teams advance to the next phase) and at -3 from their current opponent (2nd), which they are “targeting”. The most… logical – but at the same time difficult – path for AEK to qualification will be built through two wins of (tonight against the Poles and against the trailing Kriens Lucerne in the last matchday) and at the same time with defeat of Gornik Zabrze both of course in Ano Liosia and against the leader (but also indifferent, apart from the issue of leadership which she may have clarified as well) Hanover next Tuesday (5/12).

And we say the most logical way, as the “two-header” will be able to qualify with a draw – his own or Gornik’s (that is, simply bring a better result than the Polish team) – in the last matchday. However, in order for this to happen, he will first have to overcome today (in addition to winning) the difference against him in the first match against the Poles (defeat with 30-21).

In detail, the program of the 5th matchday of the 2nd Group:

Tuesday (28/11)

AEK-Gornik Zabrze (19:45)

Hannover-Kriens Lucerne (19:45)

Our opponent is in excellent form and this year they achieved a big win against us. For both us and the opposition, it is a game that defines our fate in the competition and I expect a tough and close game until the end. Zambrze is a young team, fighting, quality and well trained and for us to be happy at the end we will have to give the best possible performance both individually and as a team. What is certain is that those who come to the stadium on Tuesday can expect an excellent handball match and we will give everything to have fun together».

And this game is “key”. I believe 100% in our team and in our technical staff. We can get the win on Tuesday! I count a lot on our world, we want to fill the stadium and support us, as always, to go for the victory».
