Champions League: Battles on several fronts, the lights in Istanbul

Champions League, 5th matchday, part 2.

This week’s 2nd… dish is served in the premier inter-club competition with interest mainly centered on two groups. The most important is in the 1st group, where a fight to the end is expected for the second ticket that leads to the “16” of the competition.

1st group

Accounts are settled in the specific group, with Galatasaray hosting Manchester United. The hosts are in 3rd place with four points, while the “red devils” are last with three and went to the City for the grosso gulf. At the same time, the comfortable Bayern Munich and data first, having the absolute with 12 points, welcomes Copenhagen. The Danes are looking for a positive result to increase their chances of 2nd place, which they are in, tied with the Turks.

Sevilla are going all out against PSV Eindhoven with just two points, which puts them in last place, while the Dutch are looking to stay up. Waiting for Arsenal, who want to “lock” first place, to do their job against Lance, who are tied with PSV.

The match between Real Madrid and Napoli stands out. The “merenches” want to continue with the absolute and formally “lock” the first place, as in fact they have captured it. Braga’s duel with Union Berlin is expected to be more ambiguous, as well as more substantial. The two are giving everything for the 3rd place, with the Portuguese alive and for the qualification to the next phase of the Champions League. Since in the event of a victory and at the same time a defeat of the “partenopei” (which is the most likely scenario), they will drop to one point from the 2nd place, going to a “final” with the Italian team in the curtain.

The group has been divided into two zones. Inter and Real Sociedad have secured a ticket for the “16” of the Champions League and are fighting for the first place, which is essentially ahead of the 2nd phase. The two teams have 10 points each, with the Spaniards currently ahead on goal difference. The match between them in Iberia had ended in a draw, with the hosts being much better. Sociedad host third-placed Salzburg, who are +3 behind Benfica, who host the Nerazzurri, looking for their first points in the group.
