A few days after completing his transfer to OlympicPhilip Petrusev, gave a full-length interview to Nova’s camera and show, “Playmakers.”
The 23-year-old Serb reported to decision of coming to Greece on behalf of the “red and whites”, for the discussions he had with him Sasha Vezenkov to the Kings, but also for his relationship with the club’s other Serb, Nikola Milutinov.
At the same time, he expressed his impatience to experience one eternal derby against Panathinaikos AKTOR, as well as sharing the floor with “Milou”.
Philip Petrusev’s statements in detail:
“Olympiakos fans are very passionate. They must expect me to play with passion and energy. I’d say I’m more of a four. But I can play at five. I can help in both positions.
Recently I thought about the possibility of Greece and Olympiakos, because they are a top team, fighting every year for the titles and have excellent fans.
I had not spoken before signing with coach Barzokas. When I was in the USA I talked with my manager about where I can fit in better and we decided that the right team is Olympiacos, because they don’t have another player with my characteristics. The coach told me not to stress. Vezenkov and I talked a lot about Olympiakos, he gave me first-hand information and explained what to expect.
I’m definitely looking forward to the Greek derbies. Last year I played a lot of derbies in Serbia and I want to compare the experiences. I saw some video of last year’s derby of the ages, hope things don’t get out of hand.
No, I didn’t talk to Vildosa. I think we are not allowed to talk to the Panathinaikos players (laughter). I spoke to some other players who have been through Greece, like Hassan Martin and Ben Bedil, but I don’t speak to Panathinaikos players.
I briefly saw Milutinov before the team left for Monaco. He has been dominant in the EuroLeague since returning. I can’t wait to share the floor with him. We spent a lot of time together in the summer at the Serbian National Team.
I like the way Olympiacos compete, how physical the team is and how they turn the ball over to find the best shots. These are characteristics of a team that wants to win. Why not win the EuroLeague? It is a difficult event and we have to go step by step.
For the last month or two I’ve been doing mostly individual training and trying to stay in shape. Physically I’m fine I think, but I’ll need some time to get into racing rhythm.
I want Olympiakos fans to come to every game and support us, as they do. We will take care of the rest.
I haven’t learned any bad words in Greek yet, I think that will happen. I know the basics, good morning, good evening. I also know a bad one, it starts with m…”.
