We knew his abilities as a defender well before he came to AEK. But the Domagoi Vida this year he is showing more than ever his scoring prowess. The Croatian stopper with the yesterday’s goal against Aris (1-0) reached four with “Union” in the current season.
Yes, yes all his goals were “golden”: from the opener that secured qualification against (his) Dinamo Zagreb in the third qualifying round of the Champions League in August to the equalizer against Ajax in the Europa League groups and from the header that opened the scoring in 3-0 over Panaitolikos until the unique and winning last night for the Stoiximan Super League.
Most notably, Vida is now the second scorer of AEK in all competitions this year behind only Steven Zuber who has one more goal (5), but not only that: at 34 threatens with his performances his individual record of goals in a season which is six. He reached this number in 2012/13, his last season at Dinamo Zagreb, with 6 goals in 28 appearances, while he repeated it in the 2020/21 season at Besiktas, when he scored as many times in 39 games.
Overall Vida measures up 5 goals in 49 appearances with AEKas he had also scored another precious goal, the equalizer before the upset last season against Ionikos.
