Munich Airport in southern Germany was forced to suspend flights again this morning due to freezing rain.

A representative of the airport confirmed to the German Agency that all runways are covered with ice due to freezing rain. Therefore, no take-offs and landings take place from the start of the airport’s operation in the morning at 6 am. (local time, 07:00 Greek time) until at least 12:00 noon.

The flight schedule on the airport’s website shows that all listed flights have been canceled or postponed.

“Operations will be conducted to remove the ice during the first half of the day. The plan is to resume air traffic from noon,” the airport’s website said.

“However it can be assumed that the majority of flights will also need to be canceled during the rest of the day for safety reasons.”

The new flight disruption comes just 48 hours after the airport resumed operations after being closed for two days due to heavy snowfall.
