Alves: “To bring Olympiacos back to the championships and the Champions League – We are already in the market for players”

Mr. Kordon may not be with us every day, but we will continue our cooperation and we want to make use of his many years of experience. We will continue our best cooperation in a sincere way. Of course we have to change something, because Olympiacos must always be in first place. With full confidence in Mr. Navarro’s proposals, we will be looking for players to strengthen our team. I believe in the organization and the process, to find the players we need and integrate them as best and as quickly as possible into the team”.

For discussions with management about goals: “It was a very nice meeting and we talked about the greatness of Olympiakos that must return to the top. On whether he knows about the pressure that exists in Olympiakos: “If things were good, there would be no need for this change. If I didn’t think I couldn’t help, I wouldn’t be here. Pressure is part of our profession and our everyday life, especially at a club that wants to be first. We need a calm, to find a way to do things with more organization and discipline. We will see what the immediate changes to the roster will be to get out of this situation. But everything will be done with professionalism and good organization.”

On whether Olympiacos has evaluated how many players and in which positions they want reinforcements: “You understand that I have been here for a few days, I could not tell you that we need players in certain positions. We are in the market and we are looking at our options, we are evaluating the situations and we have a few days ahead of us to make the best choices.”

On what he thought when he was proposed to and whether he spoke to anyone in Portugal: “It is difficult to refuse an offer from such a big club. So I immediately said yes, I was proud. I talked to some people from Portugal about Olympiakos, especially the coaches who came through here. Everyone said very good things, some also said about some negative things like too much pressure. I want to help so that Olympiacos is where it should be.”
