Valencia “woke up” in the second half and swept Villeurbanne

A “stormy” replay Valencia beat poor Valencia 78-55 in Lyon for Game 13 of the EuroLeague to improve their record to 7-6, leaving the French champions at 2-11 and firmly in last place.

The match was a derby in the first half, but in the third period a 12-0 run by the “bats” brought the double digit difference for Alex Moubro’s players who in the fourth quarter did whatever they wanted on the floor.

The Spaniards were led by Otzelege with 16 and Jones with 14, while for the French, Loverne was saved with 13 and Louvavu-Cambaro with 12 points.

With Puerto in the lead, Valencia made it 8-4, but Loverne took matters into their own hands during that period. Jones went 8-12, but then Lovern and De Colo went on separate 15-4 runs to make the first quarter 23-18.

Valencia started with a 4-0 run in the second period, but there De Colo took the situation into his own hands and with a personal run of 5-0 brought the French champions +6. Loverne again took the “baton” in scoring and again gave a +5 to the home team. Two consecutive three-pointers by the “bats” made it 30-31 and Robertson made it 33-35 at the end of the half.

At the start of the third period, the two teams were tied and the lead was alternating. Ojeleghe started to score and Valencia went on a 12-0 run to make it 41-53 at the end of the quarter.

At the start of the fourth period, Jovic brought it 43-56 at 34′ and the difference went up and down from +15 to +20 for the final +23.
