“My dear, I have developed as a coach – Stay united”: Dabrauskas’ heartfelt “goodbye” to OFI

by

Dabrauskas’ “farewell” to OFI. The Lithuanian technician is also officially past for the Crete team since Saturday morning and a little while after the PAE announcement, he said goodbye to the players of his former team.

We all have to move forward.

We spent 14 months together during which we built good relationships, got good results and grew as a team.

I feel really privileged and it was an honor to be here with you and to share this locker room, the games and our conversations. I really believe that in football the result doesn’t matter that much. If you win or lose one more game, it doesn’t change who you are as a person. And that is the most important thing for me.

During this time I matured and developed as a coach as well as a person and I leave here a better person and coach. I owe this to you. If there were times when someone got upset and felt a lack of trust, like you deserve to be trusted, or didn’t get the opportunities they thought they should have gotten, it wasn’t personal. All the decisions I made were based on what was best for the team.

It’s time to move on. I wish everyone the best! You played very well last Wednesday (against Kifisia). We knew sooner or later this would happen. Build on it, give your 100% to the next coach, but above all stay united! We were a good team and the last month doesn’t change that“, said the 46-year-old coach.

The captain Kostas Giannoulis spoke on behalf of the players:We want to thank Mr. Dabrauskas for these 14 months we were together. We wish him success and good health for himself and his family“.
