Jaqueline Mourão, 46, finished her race in the free sprint, a cross-country ski race, only in 84th place. But she made history in Beijing.

This Tuesday (8), the athlete became the Brazilian with the most participations in the Olympic Games, between men and women, with eight editions of the Olympics in her curriculum. She surpassed Robert Scheidt, Formiga and Rodrigo Pessoa, all with seven Olympic campaigns.

“Now I can say: eight times Olympic! It’s amazing, I’m very happy. It’s a weight on my back that came off. Since the morning, competing, Covid test, all that… Now I can forget, only Olympic. Very happy, happy throughout the journey. Since believing, being able to believe in being in the Games, making history for my country. That’s what I take. I’m very proud”, said Jaqueline after the dispute.

Her journey in the Games began in Athens-2004, in which she became the first Brazilian to compete in mountain biking in the event’s history. Jaqueline Mourão also competed in two other summer editions in the modality: Beijing-2008 and Tokyo-2020.

In the Winter Olympics, he debuted in Turin-2006 and, since then, he has not stopped competing in the tournament, amending Vancouver-2010, Sochi-2014, PyeongChang-2018 and, now, Beijing-2022.

The SporTV report, present in this edition of the Olympics, managed to put the athlete in contact with Bruna Moura, a skier who had a car accident shortly before her trip to China and was unable to participate in the Games.

“I’m sure you ran with me today,” the 46-year-old said to Bruna, who is recovering in hospital.

Jaqueline Mourão will still compete in Beijing. On Thursday (10), she will compete in the classic 10 km, starting at 4 am (from Brasília). And already as the athlete with the most participations in the Olympic history of Brazil.
