Djokovic: “People tried to label me as anti-vaccine, I’m an advocate of freedom of choice”

The tennis legend gave a long interview to an American Media, Novak Djokovic.

The 36-year-old Serbian tennis player was hosted by CBS News, and spoke both about his decision and the impact of his choice to do not get vaccinated against covid, as well as for the relations he maintains with the two “sacred monsters” of tennis, the Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer.

Novak Djokovic’s statements:

On his relationship with Nadal and Federer: “I would really like that. Obviously we’re not the best of friends off the pitch either. We’re not friends because we’re rivals, and it’s hard to be close with someone when you’re competitors.

It would be difficult to be able to share things that can be used against you. However, we have shared the field for many years and there is boundless respect between us, certainly from me to them. I wish someday we can be closer and talk. It would be impossible.”

For the covid vaccination: “People have tried to label me as anti-vaccination. I’m not anti-vaccine, I’m not pro-vaccine either. I am an advocate of freedom of choice.”

On his tennis goals: “I love to win, there’s no doubt about that. Records inspire and motivate me. It’s completely normal for me. I am honest, authentic and say what I feel. All I want is to be true to myself and to those around me and speak honestly about my goals.”
