Sit in… X the top derby between Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen

by

Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen they came in a draw 1-1 in today’s (10/12) first game of the 14th matchday of the Bundesliga, after a “full” match.

The Swabians were in a great mood, lots of runs and were generally superior in the first half. A period in which they created several chances, with Firich, Fagnoman and Udav unable to beat Hratetski in… the first quarter!

On the other hand, the “aspirins” saw Adli’s shot stop at beamin the 9th minute, while Nibel said “no” to Boniface in the 24th minute, with his fellow goalkeeper imitating him a minute later, “taking out” Girassi’s shot and reaching a total of six interventions in the half hour.

Finally, Stuttgart took the lead they deserved in the 40th minute, when Udav and Fagnoman combined, Firich with a close shot at the second post he scored his fourth goal of the year and together the 1-0!

Leverkusen returned to the dressing room in an unprecedented condition as this was only the second time they had found themselves behind in an away league game.

However, Xabi Alonso’s men started… furiously in the replay and only managed to equalize in the 47th minute thanks to a fine finish from Wirtz which meant 1-1! In fact, two minutes later, they came close to breaking the deadlock, but Xhaka’s shot went wide beam…

From that point on, the pace dropped as Leverkusen opted to move the ball around more and patiently search for a good moment. He found it, in the 87th minute, after Grimaldo’s corner kick, but Ta’s shot went just wide.

In between, the home team threw compatriot Leonidas Stergiou into the match, while Stiller’s shot in the 81st minute did not trouble Hratetski.

With Stuttgart’s first draw of the year allowing them to stay undefeated for the third consecutive game and at the same time Third Place of the rating.
