In the Europa League the Lancesending home the… permanent trophy winner of the event, Seville!

In a rather… pleasant news for the other contenders of the second-tier European interclub football competition, the French team prevailed 2-1 welcoming the Andalusians in its 6th and final matchday 2nd group of the Champions League.

The guests only needed the victory, but – although superior – they did not manage to achieve a total upset in the final. Thus, they finished fourth, with Lance getting the 3rd place ticket for the Europa League knockouts.

In the other game of the group, the Arsenal and Eindhoven they were essentially indifferent since they had already secured 1st and 2nd place, respectively. So, the final 1-1 in the Netherlands – with the hosts being better – nothing changed at all in the final score.

Lance-Seville 2-1

In Lance, therefore, in the only game of the group with points of interest, Sevilla entered with clear offensive moods. After all, he would only take 3rd place with “three points”.

Diego Alonso’s team took the initiative of the moves from the first minutes, transferring the pressure outside the frames of the home team. Initially, it threatened mainly through static phases, top of all the indirect in 8′. Of course, the visitors created moments in set play as well, with Saba performing an excellent operation on the shot that was caught by Rakitic in the 29′.

Lance went into the second part willing to step up her lines a bit and try to be a threat as well. However, in 57′ saw the promoted Pedrosa send the ball to beam of her hearth.

And yet, it was the home side who took the lead when Soumare brought down Medina in the 61st minute (the offense was shown on replay after the Lance defender initially appeared to be fumbling on his own). The responsibility was assumed by Frankovskiwho beat Dimitrovic to make it 1-0 at 63′.

Now, the tide was overwhelmingly in favor of Lance and this because Sevilla needed two goals. Of course, in the final straight he found the first one with a penalty, which was won by En-Nesiri. Saba parried his attempt Ramosbut through VAR it was found that the goalkeeper of the French team did not touch the goal line when the ball was hit. Thus, the experienced stopper again set the ball on the white bullet and wrote 1-1 in 79′ with execution à la Panenka.

In the remaining minutes, Sevilla pressed for the second goal and had a great chance with Ramos at 90’+4′. Instead, though, she filled in the blanks she left behind in her quest for total reversal by seeing Lance counterattack in 90’+6′by Fulzini to make the final 2-1.

Eindhoven-Arsenal 1-1

The Dutch team entered the game much better. He created a bunch of big chances, with him Vertensen to have beam in the 18′.

The “gunners” answered the crossbars at 29′ by Elnenito come o Absolutely in the 42′ to give Mikel Arteta’s side the lead with a shot inside the area (post and inside).

Eindhoven continued to be more threatening in the second half. Finally, he found the goal in 50′ by Vertensenwith 1-1 remaining until the final whistle despite Arsenal’s big missed double chance in stoppage time and while in the 82nd minute their goal with Kivior was disallowed for offside.
