The president of Ankaragyutsu resigned after punching the referee

by

The developments in Ankaragiuchou after what sadly happened in the match against Rizespor!

Specifically, the president of the group, Farouk Kotsaannounced his resignation to the Board of Directors through a letter, apologizing to the club’s fans, but also to all those he insulted by punching the referee of the match, Halil Umut Meler!

Among other things, the former, now president of Ankaragyutsu, emphasized that violence has no place in sports and in any area of life.

His statement in detail:

“I apologize to the Turkish refereeing community, the sports community and our nation. Why the situation got to this point is independent of what happened. No matter how great an injustice or a mistake, nothing can legitimize or justify my violent reaction, which I certainly did not desire.

Sports fields should be the place where noble rivalry reigns. Any attitude that overshadows fair play, including mine, should not exist on the pitches.

I would like to announce that I have resigned from Ankaragyutsu to prevent any further damage to the club, the fans, the community I am in and my family.

I hope that this incident, which, more than any other, I cannot accept, will be a reason for our sporting life, especially our football community, to be rid of mistakes, shortcomings and the culture of violence.

At the same time, I hope that the problems of Turkish football will be discussed more realistically because of this serious incident that I caused.

I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize once again to everyone I’ve upset, especially the fans of Ankaragyutsu”
