Balbai announced his retirement from active activity

He put an end to his career as a basketball player Great Dane Balbai.

Through an emotionally charged post on social media, the 34-year-old Turkish guard announced the end of the beautiful adventure he lived in the last 25 years, stressing that through basketball he learned a lot and became a better person.

His career Balbai started in 2004, when he signed a cooperation contract with Fenerbahce, then moved to the US to play collegiately with Brewster Academy. He returned to his country in 2011 for her sake Effectsof which he was the captain and with it he won 2 Euroleagues, 3 Turkish championships and 3 Cups, before leaving at the end of last season.

“When I look back, I see that from the first moment I stepped on the court, basketball and what it brought with it transcended my professional career and defined Balbay. I fought not only against my opponents, but also against myself and my limits. The experiences I gained during this process contributed to both my personal and athletic development. In addition to my successes, my failures also strengthened me and became lessons that shaped me today. As I leave 25 years behind in my career, I see this period I’m in now as just as important as the last.
