Demis: “I’m afraid, like everyone else, to let my child go to the stadium alone”

by

“Would you let your teenage child go to the stadium alone?”…

To this topical question after what happened on last days in Renti and not only that, replied o Demis Nikolaidis.

“I might have left it. I wouldn’t want to, but it’s hard to say no. In European stadiums I would do it more easily, in Greece not. I’m scared, like everyone I think”says the great ace of AEK and continues:

“There is anxiety and fear about what will happen. There is no need for the child himself to get involved, but things are dangerous in Greek stadiums, which is sad”says Demis Nicolaidis, thus highlighting the great issue of security in Greek stadiums.

The entire statement of Demis Nikolaidis:

“I might have left it. I wouldn’t want to, but it’s hard to say no. In European stadiums I would do it more easily, in Greece not.

I’m scared, like everyone I think. There is anxiety and fear about what will happen. The kid himself doesn’t have to get involved, but things are dangerous in Greek stadiums, which is sad.

No one has dealt with it and if we look at it as a whole, you have a state which does not deal with the safety of our children. Football is fun, normally 16-year-olds should go to the stadiums by themselves, it makes sense.

Apart from all the other issues that exist in Greek society, this is also very important. We don’t feel very comfortable in any sporting event, not only football, even basketball. Greece has not allowed us for many years now to let a group of 15-16-17-year-olds go to the stadiums, come back and be safe”
