Mitsotakis: “The measures we had taken were not enough – Bolder interventions were needed in football”

In admission that the measures he had taken in the past government was not enoughwhich proved to be the case, Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his statements after the European Council summit in Brussels.

THE Prime Minister he pointed out that more and bolder interventions were needed in football, stressing that he is not concerned with the popularity of the decisions but that they have an effect.

“When we make decisions in government we don’t measure the popularity of the decisions. We do not do politics based on opinion polls. It is clear that things in football had reached a point where bolder interventions were needed. It is also clear that the measures we had taken were not enough”, he said and continued:

“From then on, the correctness of our measures will be seen along the way, but we will do everything in our power to ensure public order and return to Greeks enjoying the beauty of football away from any phenomenon of violence”concluded.

We must note that it is the first time that Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis refers to the measures taken on Monday for the violence in the Greek stadiums.
