by

THE Mathieu Valbuena received the award for the most beautiful goal of the 8th matchday in the Cypriot league, at the same time making statements on the PA.S.P website!

The experienced French midfielder, who moved to Cyprus last summer for his own sake Apollo Limassolhaving been freed and left after four seasons at Olympiakos, spoke again with the best words about our country, while emphasizing that the Cyprus championship is not easy!

THE Valbuena he’s got 15 appearances with 4 goals and 2 assists this year with Apollon, while with Olympiakos he had completed 150 appearances!

In detail what the former Olympiakos footballer said:

“Thank you very much to PA.S.P. about the award, I’m very happy about it. But the most important thing is the team and that we won this match. Of course, to thank the fans who voted for my goal”.

You said in an interview that one of the reasons you came to Cyprus is to feel like you are in Greece. It’s like that;

“Yes it’s true. Cyprus is very beautiful and very close to Greece. For four years I lived in Greece, which I love. Here in Cyprus, however, it is almost the same. I am happy here, the weather is great, Apollon is a very good club and the fans are fantastic. I hope at the end of the season we can achieve something with the team”.

How do you think the level of competition in the Cypriot league is?

“The Cypriot league is not an easy one. As in Greece, there is great competition for the championship. You have to be focused in every match and keep your competitive level high. We also see the teams that do not claim the championship, such as Salamina and Othellos, how they can do damage to any. Now we have two games left before the holidays, we have to win them so that with the new year we can go into the game against APOEL with the best mentality. Such derbies are what everyone is waiting for and we must be properly prepared”.

Do you miss something from Greece or a habit?

“As long as I have my fredo espresso I’m fine! (s.s. laughs) Let me tell you a difference I found. Here in Cyprus I have to order it sweet. In Greece, average is like sweet in Cyprus. But in general I am having a great time in Cyprus, life is quiet, safe and I continue to enjoy football which I love”.
