THE Panathinaikos did his… duty, elicited a reaction to Bullet and prevailed over the team of the same name at the Panthessal stadium with 3-0as part of the 15th matchday of this year’s Stoiximan Super League.
The “greens” threw away several chances in the first half, without… attracting with their performance, of course, against the well-prepared team of Magnesia and showed again… suicidal tendencies.
Everything was decided in the second 45 minutes, therefore, with her Geremegev’s entrance proves to be… wise – but also the rest of the moves – on the part of Jovanovicwith the Swede scoring on his first contact with the ball, at 64′ and to “stamp” his appearance with a “scissor” on 72′!
In between, the header intervened… his dynamite Araoin the 66′which laid the foundations for the -necessary- return of Panathinaikos to victories in the championship and the possibility of climbing to the 34 degreesbeing first again, but with a longer game… At the same time, Volos remained at 14 points.
In the minds of the coaches:
THE Marble lined up in formation 4-4-2, with Kostic in goal and Aslanidis, Kalogeropoulos, Sielis and Myga four at the back. Alho, Glavcits, Tsokanis and Kobo formed the midfield, while Moraitis and Garcia composed the duo in the attack.
THE Panathinaikos on the other hand it “went down” with a system 4-2-3-1 and Lodingin under the goalposts. Kotsiras, Schenkefeld, Arao and Mladenovic formed the four in defense and Ruben-Vilena the two players in the axis. With Palacios-Mancini at the two ends of the attack and Bernard behind Ioannidis, who was the only forward.
The match:
Strong duels dominated the beginning of the match, with Volos “playing” with the psychology of his opponent, pressing high, closing the spaces and showing a willingness to take the ball.
At the same time, Panathinaikos had difficulty finding corridors and becoming a threat, but after 10′ not only did they manage to equalize, but they were the ones who, with… a springboard on their left side, created some phases to score…
Mladenovic was however defeated by Kostic, who took the former’s diagonal shot into his closed cornerin the 15th minute, while with the cooperation of Bernard-Ioannidis, Mancini’s shot just outside the area in the very next minute went wide.
For the most important opportunity to come up to that point, from the side of the “greens” again, in the 22nd minute. When Ioannidis went to the “back” of the opponent’s defense, he played the ball to the second post for the oncoming Palasios, who he couldn’t shoot on the pace, in front of a defenseless home!
Until the break, however, the home team was satisfied with counter-attacking tactics, while playing a good defense and with a double zone. To record her their only notable phase in the 42nd minutewith Moraitis’ header from Glavcic’s corner from the right going wide.
Earlier, Panathinaikos maintained a meaningless supremacy, managing to visit the opposing area more times, but without making it “difficult” for Kostic. As the shots of Ioannidis and Vilena in the 31st and 36th respectively were not good.
With the Greek center forward “signing” the second great missed opportunity for his team, in order for it to advance. After in the third minute of stoppage time and after his individual effort almost from the midfield, he entered the area from the left but shot high and missed!
The second half started with the difference that Vilena pressed more area, at the same time Mladenovic converged inside and Panathinaikos had more attacking players.
With the hour mark and the game tied at 0-0, Ivan Jovanovic put Geremegev up front, moved Ioannidis behind him and moved Bernard to the left after the injured Mancini came off to make him more of a threat.
The vindication came quite quickly and within two minutes, essentially where the case was decided as a victory for the “clover”. As Ioannidis flicked a terrific vertical pass into the area for Geremegev, who on his first contact with the ball he made it 0-1 with a cool shot, in the 64th minute!
While in the 66th minute, from a well-measured free kick by Bernard from the right, Arao sent the ball into the net with a strong header at the first post, for 0-2!
With psychology now on their side, Panathinaikos then on the one hand properly managed their lead, on the other hand they also reached a third goal, in the 72nd minute… When Kotsiras’ good energy and cross from the right, the ball reached Geremegev who with an improbable shot he made it 0-3!
In fact, the Swedish striker came within a breath of the hat-trick, in the 85th minute. As Palasios stole from Aslanidis, he entered the area from the right, turned it, he crossed with one but Kostic saved with his foot.
MVP: He was a substitute in the match and managed to score in his first contact with the ball, but also scored an awesome “scissors”! For Alexander Geremegev the reason, with the Swedish centre-forward proving to be a catalyst for the “double” of the “clover” and confirming his close relationship with the opposing nets, which accompanied him when he came to our country…
the “whistle”: Referee Vergetis did not influence the outcome of the match, he was anyway bad at applying disciplinary control. And that’s because he gave several cards at the start, to Garcia and Aslanidis on the one hand, but also to Senkefeld. He didn’t have any difficult phase to manage.
The compositions of the two teams:
