Papastergiou: With the mobile wallet the entrance to the stadiums – How will the application work

by

With a quick process, but also safeas everyone will be allowed to enter using their own mobile phone, fans will be able to enter the games, allowing the Authorities to know the identity of those who enter.

Specifically, the ticket will be saved in the wallet (the digital wallet) of the mobile after the citizens first follow a procedure. Let us remind you that Gov.gr Wallet is a mobile application, through which citizens can, after first “downloading” it, create and store important public digital documents.

As he stated to APE-MPE the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiouthe will of the government and indeed expressed by the prime minister himself, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is to make the stadiums once again places for sporting rivalry, but also for a harmonious meeting of all those who love sports. In this direction, as the Ministry of Digital Governance, we affirmatively state that technology is our ultimate ally and can also provide solutions to this issue. The system we are proposing is not the same as compared to the one we had until now. It is not just an electronic ticket, but it has add-ons and an identification process utilizing every possibility offered by modern state-of-the-art technologies. With the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Vroutsis, the Minister of Citizen Protection Yiannis Oikonomou, the representatives of the teams, the Super League and EL.AS. we had a fruitful and productive dialogue from which I keep the common belief of all of us that with the coalition of our forces, we can succeed in being and feeling safe in our stadiums, without the need for the state to “consume” important human resources from the Police, in order to ensure that we don’t have incidents. It is a universal requirement that we will work systematically and ‘as a team’ to implement».

How the app will work

Citizens to use the Gov.gr Wallet application they will need their personal Taxisnet passwords and a certified mobile phone number, which is certified exclusively through the registration of data in the National Register of Communications (NRC).

As soon as the interested party buys his electronic ticket, he will go to gov.gr, enter the taxisnet codes, then “locks” the ticket with a certain number and it will be sent to the user’s mobile phone where will be stored in the wallet. When the citizen goes to the stadium and has his mobile phone in his hand, he will approach the turnstiles (this is the mechanism, which is placed at the entrance of public spaces and allows one person to enter it at a time), which through NFC technology will “read” the ticket in a contactless process and if it is valid, entry will be allowed, while at the same time the information about who entered the field will be recorded. It is worth mentioning that in case someone wants to give their cell phone to someone else, then there are cameras that will record who entered and with whose cell phone. The aim is for the electronic identification to be combined with the cameras that are legally present inside the stadiums.

Regarding minors, they will be able to take out and “lock” their ticket on the mobile phone of the parent, guardian. In cases where the minor is over 14 to 17 years old, the parent will send the ticket to the child’s mobile phone.

According to reports, in a short period of time, solutions will be provided in individual caseswhich are studied and considered, such as what will happen if the cell phone battery runs out at the time of entry, in the cases of older people who may not have a cell phone, or in the cases of tourists.

Particularly, note that the specific proposal concerns a modern and innovative identification system ticket holders, this is an automatic and immutable process, without a check by a natural person.
