Kreanga: “This is how I was inspired by Nikos Galis”

The all-time leading Greek table tennis player, the unsurpassed in his successes and world-renowned Kallinikos Kreanga, was among the honored persons at the 2023 sports awards ceremony, the established celebration of the Panhellenic Sports Press Association, which took place at the Concert Hall.

He was awarded for his invaluable contribution to Greek sports on the occasion, however, not of his great success, but the fact that at the age of 51 he returned, after 28 years, to the A1 category of the E.F.O.E.P.A. and in addition he found the motivation to return to the desks and finally this year to get his degree at the School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.

Immediately after the awarding of the prize by the president of ASEAD and former track and field champion Spyros Andriopoulos and the deputy treasurer of PSAT Antonis Papoutsakis, he said two words from the microphone. He caused an impression that he cited the event’s fellow laureate, Nikos Galis, as his inspiration in his own long career in table tennis. Later, a photo with him even came out. After the end of the event, Kreanga made statements on EFOEPA’s WEB TV and explained how he was inspired by the legendary basketball player!

On behalf of the administration of EFOEPA, the general secretary and public relations manager Xenia Stathis was at the Concert Hall accompanied by her daughter, the athlete of our national women’s team Malamatenia Papadimitriou.
