A transfer… story is being recalled by the Turkish media which connects Fatih Terim with Filip Djuricic whom he has -now- at his disposal at Panathinaikos.
The story in question involved a transfer list that Terim had given to Unal Aysal, the long-time president of Galatasaray who was also the club’s president at the time.
“I would ask Kaka if we could, but beyond that I gave him a list“, were the words of Terim in the Turkish media when the question of a transfer of a midfielder was raised 11 years ago. The big question though was which players were on Terim’s roster.
This detail was made known by Hasan Sass, Terim’s assistant at the time, explaining that the acquired Sneijder was not among the Turkish coach’s first choices. On the list, as Sas had made known at the time, was Djuricic.
“Sneijder was number 4 on the list we gave. In front of him were Tadic, Ben Arfa and Djuricic”, Hassan Sas reported. Ultimately the choice made by the president was to proceed with its acquisition Snyder from Inter for the amount of 7.5 million euros.
THE Djuricic then he was competing in Heerenfen and he transferred to Benfica a few months later, in the summer transfer window for the sum of eight million euros.
So now the Turkish media remembered this story 11 years ago and point out that the Fatih Terim will have at his disposal at Panathinaikos a player he really wanted.
