The 2024 winter sales are expected to start this year on January 8 and last until February 29.

Stores are expected to reopen on the first Sunday of the winter sales, which is January 14, with suggested opening hours from 11am to 6pm.

It is recalled that based on the bill of the Ministry of Development, the winter sales start on the second Monday of every January and end at the end of February.

Supermarkets do not follow retail, especially during sales periods, in terms of opening their stores, while during the Easter, Christmas and New Year festive periods they open as normal.

What consumers should watch out for

The Union of Consumer Workers of Greece has published five rules that ensure that consumers do not fall victim to “offers”.

To do market research and check not only the price (original and new) but also the quality of the products. Search the internet for the price of the product they are going to choose, by code or model number, so they can be sure that the price they have found is the best.
To delineate their needs and plan with a list the purchases they are going to make, which will go along with their personal or family budget, avoiding reckless spending.

To be informed of the details and terms of their transaction when purchasing products in installments. Especially for credit card purchases, always be informed of the terms and conditions of the particular purchase.

Products must carry the original price and the offer price (not the discount percentage).

Caution! Offers often say no changes, so if you regret it, you can’t change. Always ask for the receipt for the products you have purchased.

In the event that the product is defective and you wish to return or exchange it, proof of receipt is required.
