Both before the plea of ​​the 18-year-old, who is temporarily in custody, and today after the charge he is facing, since he is now facing the charge of consummated homicide with possible intent, his family visited me and asked me to undertake the defense of.

It is well known that over the course of my 50-year career I have appeared in about a thousand manslaughter cases, either as a defense attorney or as a civil attorney and now in support of the prosecution, and I would have no problem defending the 18-year-old, since the case filed against him has a lot of defensive elements, but I am forced to refuse for the following two very serious reasons:

The first reason is that a week ago the President and owner of PAE Olympiacos Vangelis Marinakis honored me with the position of legal advisor and also the position of 1st Vice President and representative of this huge historical club wherever he should or needs to be represented , but I also honored him by accepting this honorable proposal and I have already assumed my duties on a legal level as well, since I am drafting a lawsuit by PAE Olympiacos, which will denounce – reveal to the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court all this criminal organization , which unfortunately has remained unpunished since 1996 and has destroyed the entire Greek football and especially in the last ten years, when a former employee of the EPO appeared in the dirty Greek background who was a star in the koriopolis case file, but I represented PAE Olympiacos at yesterday’s meeting as well of Super League 1, where at my own request on behalf of PAE Olympiacos I asked all PAEs to authorize the Deputy President Mrs. Koxenoglou to represent us and attend the funeral of the unfortunate policeman, but also that all PAEs collect a respectable amount, the which we will only deliver to his parents, who are now defenseless in their lives.

Everyone realizes that if I accepted this choice to be the 18-year-old’s advocate, all the naysayers would misconstrue that defense duty of mine and deliberately misconstrue that choice of mine.

The second reason is that, while I have been honored by all the Greek police unions and the families of elite police officers accused of indictment for on-duty murders, and I defend them, today, as I accepted the proposal of family but also of the accused himself, I would be the defender of this unfortunate 18-year-old, who is alleged to have taken the life, if this is proven, of the tragic 31-year-old policeman who lost his life in the line of duty, as in in the line of duty and to protect their own lives, the police officers, whom I have the honor to defend, became involved in cases as defendants.

I am forced to make this announcement because an associate of a lawyer involved in the case, who learned from me of this visit by the parents of the 18-year-old, made it public.

I wish my colleagues who will undertake the defense of the 18-year-old, to show before the Court all the positive elements of his personality and his family environment, in order to help him in measuring the sentence, if it is proven without any doubt that he was the perpetrator.
