“I didn’t intend to kill” he allegedly testified during the police interrogation the 44-year-old Norwegian who mortally wounded the 32-year-old policeman with a palm knife, early in the morning, in a bar in Thessaloniki, where the victim was having fun – off duty – with his best man.

The perpetrator, according to information, declared that he was devastated when he learned of the policeman’s death, while he claimed that he was under the influence of intoxication.

Describing the altercation with the policeman’s best man and best friend, which preceded the fatal attack on the 32-year-old, the 44-year-old maintained that he did not initiate it. He is reported to have said that he too was being hit, developing the defence’s claim.

In addition, he reported to his police officers Department of Life Crimes who examined him that he has been in Greece for at least 9 years and that he lives on a pension granted to him by the Norwegian state for mental health reasons.

The 44-year-old is expected to be brought to the criminal prosecution tomorrow morning in order to be charged.
