The strong bond he has with PAOK was mentioned by Razvan Lutescu in an interview with Media of his hometown. The Romanian coach spoke about the great moments he has celebrated with the “double-header of the north”, highlighting the importance of reacting to difficult times.
“I lived wonderful years at PAOK. We won the double in 2019 and we had won it the year before, but you know very well the story of the stolen title. In 2018-2019 we finished the league undefeated. When I returned to PAOK it was again something wonderful because we reached the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League for the first time in PAOK’s history. We played in cup finals every year, winning two. We always made it to the last match of the tournament.
This means hard, deep work, even if you can’t always get the desired result, which is winning a trophy. We never collapsed, even when there were complicated and difficult times we knew how to get up and move forward. For me this is the big achievement“, said the 54-year-old coach.
In closing he added:PAOK is an incredible feeling for me, it is no coincidence that I returned to the team where I achieved what I achieved, although many told me not to take this step again. I returned to PAOK because I felt happy in Thessaloniki. PAOK is my soul».
