Coached by him Ivan Hasek will walk the Czech republic in the final phase of Euro 2024. The 60-year-old coach succeeds Jaroslav Silhavi, who resigned after the completion of the qualifying phase.
He signed a contract until November 2025, that is until the end of the qualifying phase of the 2026 World Cupwith the aim of leading the team to the finals of the next World Cup, which will take place in Canada, USA and Mexico.
THE Hasek, who was an international footballer with the national team of the then unified Czechoslovakia in the 1980s, has won two championships as a coach with Sparta Prague (2000 and 2001), while he has worked in many countries abroad, including France (Strasbourg and Saint Etienne). In 2009, he sat for five games on the bench of the Czech national team, as a service technician, while his last job was as the national coach of Lebanon, from where he left in 2022.
The Czech Republic has been drawn to 6th group of Euro 2024which will be held in the summer in Germany, and will face Portugal, Turkey and the winner of the playoffs from the third category of the Nations League, where the national team of Greece is claiming qualification along with Kazakhstan, Georgia and Luxembourg.
