We may have seen him at the likes of AC Milan, Roma, Atletico Madrid, Fiorentina and Blackburn, but the Nikola Kalinic made his name in his hometown of Split with her jersey Hajduk.
He rose to prominence there between 2005 and 2009, returning in 2022 and playing for 1.5 years before being released last summer.
However, for a few days now, the 36-year-old striker is again a member of his company Marco Livayaas he agreed to play for six months in Hajduk’s shirt, trying to contribute to the effort for first championship after 19 years!
The pride of Split have taken advantage of Dinamo Zagreb’s poor season and occupy the first place in the HNL standings, with 41 points compared to Rijeka’s 35 (one game less) and the champions’ 34 (two games less).
In fact, having made enough money during his rich career, Kalinic agreed to be paid only the symbolic amount of one euro per month!
“The only reason he came back is to help us win the title” said Hajduk’s technical director, Mindaugas Nikolicius, with the addition of the multi-experienced forward being done to give the champions the depth they need in the roster.
