Henri shocks: “I was depressed throughout my career”

by

Shocks the Thierry Henry! The Frenchman spoke on “The Diary of a CEO” and spoke for the first time about the battle he fought while playing football with depression.

The 46-year-old revealed that he didn’t even know he was suffering from depression, while he then talked about the difficult relationship he had with his father and how much he struggled to accept him.

What he said in detail:

“I’ve been depressed throughout my career. I knew the; No. Did I do something about it? Obviously not. I had adapted in a certain way. I was lying to myself and others because society wasn’t ready to listen to what I had to say. I knew I was lying to myself but I made sure these feelings didn’t come out, I put on my cape”first reported and continued:

“We tend to avoid and not face our problems, that’s what we always do. We try to do things so we don’t think about them. But during Covid I said, “Why are you avoiding them? What are you doing? I was alone and I didn’t see my children. That’s how I found out what it means to be vulnerable, to empathize, to cry. I cried every day for no reason, I just stopped crying. They tell you from a young age “Don’t be like that, don’t show that you’re vulnerable. If you cry what will others think?’

He then spoke about the difficult relationship he had with his father: “When I was little I didn’t feel love and affection. The first time my father hugged me he said, “This kid is going to be a great soccer player.” And since then my success was planned. My father took control of my body and it was hard. One day we played a match, I was 13 and we won 6-0. I scored all the goals but he always cared about what I didn’t: “You lost that control or that cross”. This can either tear you apart or forge you. I decided to forge me, but it wasn’t easy.”
