Panagiotis Gionis, Konstantinos Angelakis and Elizabeth Terpou are going to compete in the Qatar World Table Tennis Contender that will be held in Doha next week, January 14-20, at the “Lusail Sports Arena” in the capital. All three come from the WTT Feeder in Italy, which took place in mid-December in Biella, and which brought as an excellent result the second place of Gionis in the men’s singles, as well as the second place of the same athlete and Angelakis in the men’s doubles.
Our champions will make a new effort to collect points through a very strong tournament, which will be the third consecutive Qatar event with the arrival of the new year.
The men’s federal coach, Kostas Vatsaklis, will provide technical guidance.
According to the key information on the WTT website for the third and final event in the series in Doha, all three of our champions will go through the qualifying process. In both men’s and women’s singles, there will be four qualifying rounds.
The central boards will be in both cases of “32”. Gionis and Angelakis after their success in Italy will work together in one more tournament. They will be in the men’s doubles qualifiers and, through new remarkable performances, they will aim for their best.
There is no Greek participation in women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
