They “tied up” one of their most important players Clippers!
The LA club announced the extension of the partnership with Kawhi Leonardwithout specifying the length of the new contract or the money the player will receive.
“Klaw” is currently in the third year of a four-year contract he signed with the Clippers for 176 million dollars total, with an option for a fourth season. He could do it himself opt-out and to explore the market in the upcoming offseason, however he chose to secure his stay in… the opulence of Los Angeles.
The LA club saw that this year so far he has stayed healthy and away from major problems, deciding to offer him a new contract. Now, the team’s goal is to do the same with him Paul George.
Leonard, 32, has played in 32 of 36 games so far this season for the Clippers, averaging 23.8 points per game on 51.6% shooting. He also averages 6.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. In fact, his team is one of the most formed in NBAhaving a 23-13 record and being very elevated after the trade for James Harden.
The Clippers extension talks with Paul George are ongoing and the organization continues to want to get both stars lined up on longer-term contracts, sources tell ESPN. For now, Leonard has agreed on a new deal in a season that he’s been healthy and highly productive. https://t.co/wCOhfrJxrp
