Manchester City: De Bruyne-Doku return, Haaland remains a “question mark”

by

THE Manchester City return to Premier League action on Saturday (13/1) against Newcastle United at Saint James Park. Pep Guardiola normally counts on Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Docu, after both featured in the FA Cup tie against Huddersfield. On the other hand, his participation Erling Haaland will be decided at the last moment.

The two Belgians have a very important role in the rotation of the Spanish coach and their absence cost the English team a lot. THE De Bruyne returned to action five months after the injury he sustained against Burnley in August 2023. Doku picked up an injury in the match against Tottenham (3-3), as a result of which he missed six matches for the league, as well as the matches against Urava and Fluminense in the Club World Cup.

The big question mark remains Haaland. City’s top scorer recently returned to training but has been sidelined since the match against Aston Villa on December 6.

Guardiola spoke about the Norwegian striker, stating that he is gradually finding his rhythm, but his return to competitive action will be as careful as possible.

Finally, Bernardo Silva, who overcame the virus that afflicted him, is expected to be available to the coach of the team, while John Stones remains out of training and the period of his absence remains unknown.
