Accusative of the fact that Vinicius not worth to be in the top eleven of the year was Jamie Carragher.

Carragher, initially, expressed the opinion that the Lionel Messi should be included in the conversation saying: “He’s the Ballon d’Or winner, he’s the best. He won the World Cup with Argentina, he scored incredible goals“, he initially said with Neville to have an opposing view:
“We are picking the team of 2023, not 2022. This year he was eliminated with Paris in the Champions League, then he played in Miami. My bet is Vinicius. He was impressive with Real Madrid. We all love Messi, but we can’t pick him for what he did in 2023”, with Carragher strongly disagreeing saying of the Brazilian:
“Vinicius? What he did was at Real Madrid playing in a funny league. What did Real Madrid win? He didn’t even win La Liga!“, emphasized the 45-year-old, although in the end they included the “merenches” superstar, even though he did not agree with this decision.
