The 37-year-old woman was remanded in custody after her confession to the investigator of Veria where accused of beating her 6-month-old infant to deathin front of the eyes of her two older children (6 and 7 years old), in Makrohori Imathia.

The defendant, who is being prosecuted for manslaughter in a calm state of mindAccording to reports, he refuses to realize the crime he committed and cites psychiatric problems he is dealing with.

“I didn’t think I was killing my child at the time… I was killing him ‘out of here'” she reportedly said during her three-hour testimony to the investigator. She submitted, through her lawyer, a request for a psychiatric examination.

Investigator and prosecutor unanimously decided on her temporary detention “showing” her way to prison.

Her switch and departure to Veria Courthouse it took place under enhanced police measures, with the 37-year-old wearing a bulletproof vest.

According to forensic findings, the infant suffered a fractured skull and multiple contusions to the face and the oral cavity, while his death resulted from a combination of head injuries and blunt force trauma.

Meanwhile, the infant’s father filed a lawsuit against the 37-year-old woman and her relatives (and estranged wife of the former) for exposure, insult, threat and issuance of an illegal burial permit (the latter for the conditions under which his child’s funeral took place).

“At the time of the act, he had no account. He could not see the injustice of the act he did for the child he loved dearly” the advocate of the tragic mother, Dimitris Zygoulianos, noted for his part in statements to the media.

As the advocate explained, the psychiatric expert opinion for which a relevant request was submitted earlier is expected.
