Ergin Ataman’s assistant was honored by the team he served for a full 19 years, seeing a piece of his former team’s headquarters… dressed up with photos showing beautiful and intense moments he lived with Lavrio!
In the context of the award, the 49-year-old coach excitedly stated that he will forever remain a member of Lavrio’s team, adding that he cannot describe in words his relationship with the club!
In detail what he said:
“I want to thank the team and its people for what happened before the game (with Panathinaikos). It was something very nice, I was moved and happy at the same time. There is such a relationship with Lavrio’s team that words cannot describe.
I will always be a member of this team, wherever I am coaching. Lavrio is my family, I care about Lavrio as I did five years ago and 10 years ago and 19 years ago when I took over as the first coach. Obviously, I was not alone throughout this journey, I have thanked and honored everyone who helped me along this journey and they themselves know who they are.
What I want to emphasize is that this team deserves the support of all Lavriotians, it deserves to play in a full stadium, it deserves to embrace the new effort that has started since the summer with the new owner, Yiannis Fradellos and the ever present, Vangelis Vodina, because the team has always been a Lavrio team and it must remain so.
I say this not only as a Lavriotis, but also as a person who, since I am no longer in the team as a coach, I see how much the team is loved by the entire basketball community. And this is something that we Lavriotians must preserve”.
